Born Feet First

BORN FEET FIRST is a hilarious and moving account of a Jersey girl’s search for life’s
deeper meaning.  At turning point in life, DIANE unsuccessfully uses romance novels and motivational self-help books to try to escape from her own childhood in the ironically named Garden State.  A series of mishaps leads to a chance meeting of  four naked models in a Japanese bathhouse and a Chicano poet. Through literature she discovers true, transcendental power and ultimately herself.

“Diane’s passion and fearlessness never cease to amaze me. She’s performed at Los Angeles’ toughest schools and has the kids full attention and respect. She connects with them, her story connects with them…” – Jimmy Santiago Baca, Poet, Author A PLACE TO STAND

“Diane Luby Lane beautifully (and with great humor) illustrates the unique ability of the most simple act—reading—to blast open
entire new worlds. The perfect antidote to a youth culture weaned on television, computers and video games.”
William Lucas Walker, Television Writer/Producer, WILL AND GRACE and FRASIER

“An Inspiration to students and teachers.”
Jane S. Hancock, UCLA Writing Project Co-Director

“It is a book come to life”
-BACKSTAGE WEST

“(My students) were glued to the edge if their seats. They were
inspired to read many of the books she mentioned in the show and it caused them to see literature in a new way.”
GiGi Bizarre, Teacher, West Lake School for Girls

“I really loved the performance. We need more people who appreciate what it means to be born and to live and to exist.”
Nathan, Student, Morro Bay High
